The ‘before and after’ school club: for up to 20 (with a ratio of 1 adult to 8 children in the morning and 1 adult to 10 children after school) primary aged school children from Green Lane Primary School and other schools, operates from the building. There is a ‘holiday club’ for primary school aged children during the school holidays.
Green Lane Nursery and Childcare Centre's Club: the children are aged 4 to 12 years of age. We provide childcare before and after school, throughout the school holidays, 50 weeks of the year. We welcome children who attend other primary schools within the local area.
Club is situated within Green Lane Primary School. We have a large room with access to the main hall and outside areas including the school field.
You are entitled to 13 weeks holiday throughout the school holidays. If care is required during this time, letters will be sent to you for confirmation of any childcare required. Any holidays taken throughout term time will be charged.

We plan the activities for each term using a range of themes and topics for inspiration, and obtain ideas from children for these activities in 'carpet-time' sessions. The sessions also provide the opportunity to enjoy ‘free play’ as well as the structured activities, all of which take place in our indoor and outdoor areas. ‘Free play’ activities include small world play, creative activities, computers, bikes and football. Many pieces of the children’s work are displayed in the room for parents to view. The displays give the children an enormous amount of pleasure and pride.
All our planned activities are based around children’s interests and abilities. All activities are planned so that each individual child is able to participate if they wish. Topics which the children have enjoyed recently are marble painting, origami dogs, sunrise pictures and dinosaurs. Our planned activities also follow our yearly calendar making things for Mother’s Day, Easter, autumn and Christmas.
All children have the option to play indoors and outside; all activities are available outside as well as indoors. The children have lots of space to run, jump, skip, play football, ride bikes and scooters in our own play area as well as part of the school field.
The Holiday Club provides a similar structure to the term time events with the addition of trips to a variety of interesting places. We involve the children in choosing the places we visit. We like to visit parks around town, the Bowes Museum, farmers’ markets, picnic areas and feeding the ducks by the river. We occasionally arrange trips to the cinema, local nature reserves and more recently we arranged a falcon display. Charges may be applicable for some visits but these will be kept to a minimum. Consent forms will need to be completed prior to attending outings.
