“Hello and Welcome” to Green Lane Nursery and Child Care Centre in Barnard Castle.
We are located next to Green Lane primary school and our premises look south out over Teesdale and across to the North Yorkshire Pennines beyond.
We take children from three months of age; children tend to stay with us through their early years until they are ready to move to primary school.
Our vision is to promote, “Happy, Healthy, Enquiring and Active Children”. Our mission is to work closely in partnership with parents; together, we will then be able to help all our children to experience the best possible start in life.
We are keen to work in partnership with parents, helping children to be happy, independent and well-adjusted both emotionally and socially. We achieve this through kindness and thought for their and others’ feelings. We employ caring, patient, professional staff to create a loving and safe environment for our children. We also assist our children to attain their maximum development potential by paying close attention to their individual needs.
Room leaders are knowledgeable and passionate about Early Years’ Education; all staff are encouraged through in-service training to understand thoroughly how young children learn and develop.
The nursery is calm, orderly and well organised; our children behave well and we encourage them to learn how to share resources, join-in our varied activities and make family members special presents!
We provide a safe learning environment, both indoors and outdoors, with an excellent range of resources to stimulate and extend children’s experiences. We ensure that activities match each child’s needs. We aim to provide an exciting, rich curriculum which follows children’s interests and thereby enables them to make fast progress in developing skills, knowledge and understanding across all areas of learning.
I hope you find our website informative and that you enjoy looking at the photograph galleries too! It is my hope that this will encourage you to contact me to arrange an appointment to visit us, at a mutually convenient time, and to find out more about how my colleagues and I care and provide for our children, and to see how happy and engaged our young people are within this fun environment.
I look forward to meeting you.
The bright and airy environment is lighted by natural sunlight, lamps and fairy light to create a feeling of warmth, simplicity and togetherness.
Activities will be carefully planned following observations of the children's interests - in the moment - focusing on process over product.
The room offers loose parts and natural resources, providing children with endless opportunities to build on their play and to create and expand their life skills that support their learning and development.
The spacious and inviting outdoor learning environment is currently being developed, our plans are for an Eco/Woodland theme and a little bit of the "good life".
We have also raised our very own Chickens which the children will be helping to look after.
The room will be staffed by dedicated, passionate and highly qualified practitioners who will provide a safe, calm and nurturing, home from home environment where "every child shines".
" The learning environment inspires children's natural curiosity and they are keen to lead their own play "
" Children are superbly well prepared to develop skills for future learning "
" Staff provide an inclusive environment where the uniqueness of each child is celebrated and opportunities for learning about the wider world are abundant "
